1st Annual Tournament Volunteers Empty 1st Annual Tournament Volunteers

Post by Ariel Chen Wed Mar 25, 2009 8:49 pm

i already asked a bunch of you guys to volunteer to be refs during the novice and average tournament divisions. i guess this thread is just a reminder of what to do.

1) keep track of score. if you don't trust your memory, then bring paper and pencil with you
2) bring a coin with you to determine who serves first
3) crowd control. make sure the people that are watching are not bothering any of the players
4) service does not need to be thrown in the air but should be behind the end of the table.
5) bring a timer for hm... i'd say 3 minute warmup
6) best of 3 until it gets to quarter-finals semi-finals and finals. i guess quarter finals will be bo5 semi too and finals are bo7

i'm sure there are more... i'll update when i remember
not a lot of people use the forum anyway though so i guess i'll have to write these points down and bring them in tomorrow

Personally, I say yes, because when I first joined club, everyone forced me to do legal serves

Novices and average may serve the ball without tossing it. Since we can't enforce the toss like we would a foul in basketball, etc. due to the lack of popularity at the moment.

I think it should be an option for people who can do legal serves to call legal serves on people.

If they can't legal serve, it is their fault for not attending a club that is free for practice.
