How to recieve serves.....

Hi can anybody give me hints on how to receive serves from Ariel. when i get it the ball always pops up and he kills it............. . anywys do u have to put the opposite spin or is tehre any special way of hitting it? thanks

Hit it in the opposite direction of the spin, anti spin rubber or get into long range. =P It all depends on how heavy the spin is.

lol ariel's serve easy for me but ivan's serve so hard <.<

lol not saying that its easy but its easier than ivan <.<

the serve that gets me sometimes is chris's reverse side because i always try to end it right after serve cause it's so high but sometimes i hit it over the table. well the first few shots i hit it over the table but after a while i get used to it and hit it towards his body and he can't move fast enough lol

lol when ivan does heavy back spin and i return it it taps the top of the net almost going over then back down <.<

I understand what you mean. Short backspin serves are really tough to return. What I usually do is a push with a slight backspin and return it near the net. Doesn't work 100% of the time though.

pushing it back usually results in ppl push it back then u push it back...never ends time someone makes mistake

If u add topspin to a backspin ball then its going to drop quickly. This is why when Ivan does a backspin serve on you and you try to topspin, it hits the net. The only time I use topspin on a backspin serve is when it goes long near the edge of the table. Even so, I have to drag the ball up with a loop to get it over the net. On most rallies in tournaments, I see a lot of people pushing on the first few hits with a backspin and then they slowly start to attack more and more.

just push it however it comes, if it turns to the right as it rush towards you move your paddle to the left as you push the ball
iono how to describe it but you can see ppl do it in olympics all the time

when like, you are trying to return a ball and you want to put backspin on it, is there any way that i can keep the ball from staying in the air too long so my opponent cant smash it?

i believe thats impossible coz good players have timing...so they can just b patient til the ball drops then kill u =)
