styles: offensive vs defensive
in pingpong there r traditionally 2 styles either being offensive or defensive =)
offensive styles revolve around players who usually go 4 atk such as hitting/driving n looping...
defensive styles revolve around players who usually go 4 def such as blocking/pushing n chopping...
p.s. in my opinion offensive styles r easier 2 learn than defensive styles =)
but offensive styles r also harder 2 use than defensive styles =)
coz atkers usually generate topspin which goes against the direction of gravity...
while defers usually generate backspin which goes with the direction of gravity...

I personally dont believe in all around because I believe that in order to suceed you have to be excel in one area. If you're good at everything but not extremely good at something then you do everything ordinary but nothing extraordinary.Andy Mai wrote:Don't forget all around. Combination of both.

Re: styles: offensive vs defensive
You can always give your opponent another look. If your offensive then go defensive your opponent will be thrown off.
